It is part of our mission to help as many Mustangs out of BLM holding facilities as we can, even if it’s a small number. Good land stewardship is a core value of RMMR so we are able to provide the best environment to the horses in our care.
In order to keep our herd sizes appropriate for the land and continue to help those in holding, we are proud to offer the Mustangs below for adoption.
2017 Gray Mare "Spotlight" - Spotlight has been in our training program for the least amount of time, but she has made substantial progress! On just day two, she was haltered and led with ease. She quickly decided that humans are wonderful friends and loves to follow people along the fence line when near her pasture. In fact, if you're in her pasture with her, she will happily follow you around, enjoying your company! While Spotlight is still learning basic groundwork skills, she has proven to be a solid citizen, and her affectionate, eager-to-please nature makes her an ideal horse for anyone. She is sure to become an outstanding horse with continued training!
2020 Gray Dapple Mare "Kenosha" - Kenosha is a remarkable mare with a sharp mind and a strong will. She's not one to give her heart away easily — but once she does, it's yours completely. This intelligent and independent girl thrives on connection and understanding. She will challenge you to think outside the box and put in the time to truly get to know her. But the reward is well worth it. Though she holds a high rank in the herd pecking order, Kenosha is also deeply sensitive and requires a patient, observant partner. She's not a “push-button” horse — she prefers to do things her own way — but when treated with kindness and consistency, she blossoms. Kenosha has already come a long way. Once wary of people, she now follows her trusted humans around like a loyal puppy. She would do best in a calm, quiet home with just a few people she can bond with deeply. For someone willing to invest the time and love, Kenosha will give back a thousandfold.
2021 Gray Mare "Poppy" - Poppy is a beautifully built, intelligent, and sensitive girl who’s ready to blossom with the right person. She has the potential to excel in any discipline and is eager to learn and please. Poppy forms strong bonds with her handler and responds best to gentle, patient guidance. She can become overwhelmed if rushed and tends to shut down, so she’ll do best in a calm, supportive home where she’s given the time and encouragement she needs to continue to flourish.
2021 Bay Mare "Iris" - Iris is an adorable and affectionate little pony who’s always happy to greet you for scratches when you arrive. She may be at the bottom of the herd pecking order, but don’t let that fool you—she holds her own just fine and is an extremely easy keeper. Smart and eager to please, Iris is always trying to figure out what’s being asked of her. She thrives with a kind, patient handler who can take the time to build trust and confidence. If pushed too hard or confused, she can shut down, so a calm and consistent approach works best.
2021 Sorrel Mare "Freya" Freya is a sweet and gentle mare with a soft personality. She is halter broke, leads easily, and understands her basic groundwork skills. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, once she feels comfortable, Freya enjoys attention and will happily follow you for affection. Freya has a dropped hip on her left side that does not affect her comfort or mobility in daily life but does limit her to being a companion horse only. She lives peacefully in a mixed herd and gets along well with other horses. Freya is an easy keeper and is maintained on free-choice hay with access to salt and mineral blocks. Freya would make a wonderful addition to a home looking for a calm, kind companion horse.
