Madison Donahue - Equine Care Director / Trainer
Madison’s love for horses started off at six years old when her parents signed her up for riding lessons, and she’s been hooked ever since! She grew up competing in hunter/jumpers, then branched out into western riding as a teen.
Madison pursued her passion at the University of New Hampshire, earning a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies: Industry and Management. After graduation, she spent a summer working on a ranch in northern Wyoming, where she fell in love with the western lifestyle.
Though she returned east to launch her career in horse rescue, the west kept calling. For six years, Madison worked at a large nonprofit in Maine, rehabilitating and retraining equines who’d faced abuse or neglect, helping them find new homes. Later, drawn back to the wide-open spaces, she took a role on a large cattle ranch in southern Nevada, managing broodmares, foals, working ranch horses, and retirees. While she thrived there, her heart stayed with the nonprofit world. When the chance to join RMMR came up, she couldn’t say no! Now, Madison oversees the daily care of all the refuge’s equines and works as a trainer, gentling the herd to prepare them for adoption.
When she’s not at the refuge, you’ll likely find Madison hanging out with her Mustang, Izzy, and her two pups, Dozer and Boone, enjoying the simple joys of life with her crew!

Tommy Miller - Operations Director / Trainer
Tommy has spent most of his life around horses, growing up on a family farm with Thoroughbreds and Clydesdales. That’s where his journey with horses began, and he’s never looked back. Over the years, he’s worked with some incredible mentors who’ve shaped his skills in training young or challenging horses and helping them reach their best.
Tommy also brings a background in construction to the team to help assist with on site projects and development at the refuge.
When not at work you can find Tommy with his two personal horses, Silver and Kit, working his small cattle herd, or fishing on a river.

Board of Directors
Marty & Cynthia Klaiber - Founders
In 2018 our founders purchased the ranch that the refuge sits on today. It was then that they started to look for opportunities to bring people to Park County and Fairplay in particular. Through intensive searching they came upon the story of the wild mustangs that roam the western half of the US; this became their cause.
Though their background with horses varied, they knew that they wanted to do something to help ease the stress of the horses rounded up by the BLM and give them a second chance. From there RMMR was formed and they have been avid supporters of not only the horses at the refuge but the care and maintenance of the ranch that it sits on. We owe a debt of gratitude to our founders for their vision.

She now spends her time quietly; writing and riding her buckskin Quarter Horse. Widowed in 2018 and facing her 60th birthday, Gina decided to check off an item on her bucket list; own a home in the mountains and have her horses in her backyard. She left her waterfront home of 25 years in Gulf Breeze, Florida, and moved to 9500 feet in the Rocky Mountains.
Never one to do anything subtly, Gina changed her whole life in one leap. She believes in embracing change, taking risks, and following your heart which is exactly what the founders of RMMR did and why Gina volunteers to support their mission to decrease the number of mustangs in BLM holding through successful adoptions or permanent care in the sanctuary of Rocky Mountain Mustang Refuge.
